You are sitting at your computer in the MacLab ready for your Web Page Design I class when the strangest thing happens. A portal suddenly opens, emanating from your computer screen, and you are sucked through the screen into another land – probably a new dimension entirely…
You stumble dazed and confused to your feet and take in your new surroundings. No longer are you in the dim lighting of the computer lab with row upon row of computers. You are outside in a tall, scraggly looking forrest. No portals are in sight.
With some measure of relief, you notice your backpack at your feet – at least you have some piece of home with you.
A strange little fellow drops down from a tree. His name is Ediug and he was hiding from the treacherous forces of Yhtapa – a dangerous organization that threatens the precarious peace of this land. At first he was afraid that you were a member of that terrifying group.
Ediug, as it turns out, is a member of the powerful Artist Guild – more commonly called the A.G. Ediug’s branch of the A.G. are masters in communication – using a mysterious magic that springs from something known only as “The Network”. They speak fluently in HTML and another language you may of vaguely heard of – something called CSS.
You are interested in the tales of this guild but more importantly you want to get back home – or at least you want to know how to get there when you are ready. You ask Ediug about where you are. The guild member tells you that you are in the great land of Ngisedbew, one of the Tribes of Tralatigid. He offers to help you reach the city of Esabemoh where you may be able to find work as part of the A.G. The A.G. has many resources and may even be able to help you find a way home. The A.G. also offers great protection from the insidious forces of Yhtapa.
Do you choose to journey to the city of Esabemoh in an epic quest to join the A.G., rise through its illustrious ranks, and find a way home?
Now that you have committed to this journey, Ediug digs out a map from one of his many pockets and shows you the path to Esabemoh. He also takes a moment to scribble a letter of introduction to his Guildmaster. You notice a strange warning written on the bottom of the map – “Beware the Ruphants”. You look back at Ediug to ask – what are Ruphants? However, Ediug has mysteriously disappeared – and so has the warning on the map. Shrugging, you start on your way to Esabemoh.
Eventually the map guides you to a small city – and fortunately you seem to have missed any Ruphants – whatever they may be. This city is nothing like anything you have seen at home. The buildings are at once old and almost decrepit looking yet at the same time could be almost futuristic with all of the visible mechanics. You find your way to a particularly large building and you are pretty sure this is the guild that Ediug spoke of.
You are warmly invited into the A.G.. The Guildmaster is sure that if you joined, the guild could help you find a way home – eventually. First though, the Guildmaster wants to be sure that you have enough background knowledge to be a valuable member. Submit your HTML screenshots in Google Classroom before continuing on.
Great job, Visitor! You are being offered a position in the A.G. on a trial basis. Are you willing to always try your best and not give up? Will you be honest, kind, and honorable? Can you learn from your mistakes? Will you fight against the forces of Yhtapa and forsake shortcuts or loopholes? If you agree to the A.G.’s code of conduct, click on “Complete”, and you will be a guild apprentice. You can use the map to continue on with your training. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for clues to get home!
